Life in Afghanistan Since the Taliban Returned to Power - Stories from Afghanistan’s Hungry Children
August 2023 marks 2 years since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan. Decades of conflict, poverty, drought, a lack of social services and the interruption of foreign aid have pushed the people of Afghanistan into a humanitarian catastrophe and left the country suffering one of the worst food crises ever recorded.
This is the photo essay I developed and wrote for Save the Children International to visually depict the impacts of food crises on children in Afghanistan since the Taliban returned to power. The photo essay reached more than 2M people globally and generated media interest from tier-1 outlets such as The Guardian, Al Jazeera, CNN, and more.
The High Cost of Hunger: A Visual Chronicle of the Rohingya Struggle
August 25, 2023, marks six years since more than 700,000 Rohingya fled violence in Myanmar to seek safety in Bangladesh. The humanitarian situation is reaching a breaking point. For six years, Rohingya children have gone without formal education, parents and caregivers have gone without employment, and all refugees have become more vulnerable to deaths and injuries from large-scale fires, flooding, and rising violence and insecurity in the camps than ever before.
This is the photo essay I developed and wrote for Save the Children International, highlighting case stories of the Rohingya refugees in Kutupalong Refugee Camp, Bangladesh, resulting in a 12% increase in donation rates.
Power Up for a Fossil-Free Future
‘Power Up’ is an initiative led by 350.org to hold leaders accountable for their climate decisions. In Asia, starting on the 3rd and 4th of November 2023, thousands of activists took to the streets in various countries to demand that policymakers and governments shift to renewable energy and protect vulnerable communities affected by the climate crisis.
This is the photo essay I developed and wrote to visually capture and convey the powerful stories of solidarity and collective action taken by activists across the region.
